In a blazing attack against both the BJP and the PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the ‘opportunistic BJP-PDP alliance set fire to Jammu and Kashmir.’
The Congress president was reacting to the BJP-PDP breakup in restive J&K that may translate into Governor’s Rule in the state.
‘The opportunistic BJP-PDP alliance set fire to J&K, killing many innocent people including our brave soldiers. It cost India strategically & destroyed years of UPA’s hard work. The damage will continue under President’s rule. Incompetence, arrogance & hatred always fails (sic),’ Gandhi said in a tweet in the evening.
Echoing Congress chief’s sentiments, senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that, ‘The BJP did its damage and ruined Kashmir as much as it could in three years and has pulled out now. In the last three years, civilian killings and army deaths have risen sharply.’
Azad also said that this fallout is a total failure on the part of government.
"The BJP should be squarely held responsible. It and the central government cannot shy away from the responsibility," he added.
He also added that the Congress will not offer support to the PDP to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir.
