BJP's big U-turn on Indo-China war report

In a U-turn from its stance on making the Henderson Brooks report on the 1962 Indo-China war public, the BJP-led NDA government on Tuesday said that the report is a "top secret document" and disclosure of any information about it would not be in the national interest, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

When the report was leaked in March, then BJP leader and now Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had demanded that the report be made public so that the nation knows "as to who did what wrong". But four months after coming to power, the BJP-led NDA government said: "This (the Henderson Brooks report) is a top secret document and has not been declassified so far.

Release of this report, fully or partially or disclosure of any information to this report would not be in the national interest."
