To add even more masala to the Panneer v/s Sasikala drama in Tamil Nadu, reports suggest that superstar Rajinikanth could launch his own political party. India Today TV claimed that the senior RSS ideologue S Gurmurthy has been egging on the superstar to launch his own political party. Gurumurthy’s proposal is reportedly being backed by BJP who are planning to take advantage of the turmoil in the state.
Sources told India Today, that BJP could even project Rajinikanth as CM face. Rajinikanth entry would surely send ripples in Tamil Nadu politics which has always been swayed by larger-than-life figures and has a history industry veterans entering the fray. Meanwhile, it’s believed that Bollywood superstar and Twitter cheerleader Amitabh Bachchan has asked Rajinikanth not to join politics. Amitabh had a brief stint in politics and has stayed away since the 80s.
Earlier, the political turmoil in Tamil Nadu has prompted veteran actor Kamal Haasan to exhort people to become "incorruptible" themselves rather than blaming politicians. In a series of tweets, the 62-year-old actor said the entire country is with the state in the ongoing stand-off between AIADMK leaders O Panneerselvam and Sasikala. "We've wasted our freedom years gambling our fanchise on wrong& corrupt politicians. Let's stop blaming them. Lets become incorruptable (sic).
"Don't break TN in to a country. I promise, All India will fight for TN in a civil war of Ahimsa. None might die but the ignorant will come alive," Haasan wrote. A political turmoil was triggered in the state after sacked Treasurer and Chief Minister Panneerselvam revolted against party General Secretary Sasikala saying she has no powers to sack him as Treasurer and she herself was elected on a temporary basis in view of the extraordinary situation faced by the party after Jayalalithaa's demise.
Amid the row, 131 MLAs attended Sasikala-chaired meeting to discuss the fallout of the revolt by Panneerselvam.
