BJP to seek discussion on NCTC under Rule 193

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj said the party will seek a discussion on the NCTC issue, which it considered an attack on the country's federal structure.

Determined to take on the government for its decision to set up the National Counter Terrorism Centre, opposition BJP sill seek a discussion on the issue in Parliament under Rule 193 which does not entail voting.

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj today said the party will seek a discussion on the NCTC issue, which it considered an attack on the country's federal structure and amounted to usurping of powers of states by the Centre.

The BJP will also be seeking amendments to the President's address on the issue of NCTC.

Rule 193 lays down how a member can submit a request for discussion on a matter of urgent public importance.

Swaraj said she has also moved a Calling Attention Motion on the Norway kids issue, which she claimed the government has accepted. She said Parliamentary Affairs minister Pawan Kumar Bansal has admitted that the motion will be taken up later this week.

BJP's Rajnath Singh will initiate the opposition discussion on the President's address in Parliament tomorrow.

Sources said Sumitra Mahajan will initiate the opposition discussion on the Railway budget, while senior party leader Jaswant Singh will initiate the discussion on the General Budget.
