The party has already alleged that the central probe agency is working at the behest of the Congress-led UPA government to defame the democratically elected BJP government in Gujarat.

BJP leaders from the city will join their saffron brethren in holding demonstrations on Wednesday in protest against "the action of the Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) in the state". The party has already alleged that the central probe agency is working at the behest of the Congress-led UPA government to defame the democratically elected BJP government in Gujarat.

City's BJP leaders have accused the Congress of creating obstacles in the state administration through CBI. City BJP president Purnesh Modi said that rather than investigating Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, the CBI is focusing on other issues.  Citing the arrest of IPS officer Abhay Chudasama, Modi said that instead of finding out Chudasama's role in the encounter case, the CBI is charging the officer of running an extortion racket with Sohrabuddin.

"There are many instances, where the CBI did not show any interest in investigating the case assigned to it. The CBI closed the case related to Ajit Jogi, Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mayawati, A. Raja and others, but it is actively investigating Sohrabuddin's case and arresting people. The reason is, the BJP is ruling Gujarat,'' said Modi.

On Wednesday, the party workers will shout slogans against the CBI and the UPA government, organise a rally, and later  hand over a memorandum to the district collector.

The leaders claimed that the Congress is politically misusing the CBI for gaining an upper hand in the civic body elections due later this year.
