A man has been arrested by cyber crime cell of Kerala police for allegedly posting "slanderous content" about Nair community on his blog, officials said.
"Acting on a complaint by the Nair Service Society (NSS), the cyber crime cell tracked down K V Shine, a resident of Thuravoor in Alappuzha district, a few days ago and arrested him for allegedly posting slanderous write-ups on Nairs, an influential Hindu caste group of Kerala," an official said.
Shine surrendered before the cyber crime police yesterday following a lower court. He was released on bail after recording the arrest as ordered by the court, the official said.
"The man, a clerk in government service, had posted the unsavoury write ups using a Christian name to create communal
ill will...He had been charged under section of IT Act 66 A
(defamation and creation of annoyance through cyber content),
IPC 153 A (purposeful creation of communal violence)," Ajith
Mohan of cyber crime police said.
In his complaint to the DGP, NSS general secretary P K Naryana Panicker had alleged the blog postings hurt the sentiments of the members of the community.
