The bhoomipujan ceremony of the new building has already been performed and construction is likely to start in a month and a half. GIHED Bhavan will be spread over a 40,000 square feet area. The new building will house a training centre, seminar hall as well as a client redressal committee and permanent property show.

The client redressal committee will deal with  problems customers may have with any real estate developer.  The association will play the role of arbitrator between the customers and the developers.

GIHED is also planning to provide training to labourers under its labour welfare programme. It plans to conduct certificate courses for mason, RCC workers, electricians and plumbers. "The training aims at creating a skilled labour force for the construction industry," said Suresh Patel, president of GIHED.

The labour from selected sites in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will be provided training and given certificates. They will be remunerated for the training programmes, said Patel.
