The Dussehra festival has brought cheers to the city-based automobile and two-wheelers dealers who are expecting double digit growth in the number of deliveries of cars and bikes on Wednesday.
Simultaneously, a sharp rise in booking of houses is also expected with around 70 schemes launched during Navratri and eight more to be launched on Dussehra. That is not all. Around 2,000 families are likely to enter their dream home on this auspicious day.
Ahmedabad is expected to see 3,500 more bikes and at least 1,100 additional cars on roads, on the day considered most auspicious for buying assets. Compared to previous year, sales this year are up by at least 15%.
Last year, around 3,000 bikes and scooters were delivered in city alone. However, industry is expecting to deliver 3,500 two-wheelers, said the dealer of a leading two-wheeler and car brand in Ahmedabad.
However, the automobile dealers were not as hopeful at the onset of Navratri. “Sudden rise in demand has been pleasantly surprising. On Wednesday, we are delivering around 400 Honda two-wheelers in Ahmedabad and have seen 25% growth compared to previous Dussehra,” said director of Punjab Honda, Devendra Bagga.
While in cars, the growth is estimated to be between 10% and 15%. There are more options for consumers in small car segment, SUVs and sedans with new launches in last three to six months. The demand for new cars has gone up. Manan Autolink, which sells two-wheelers as well as four-wheelers has set a target of at least 15% growth in sales of Bajaj bikes and Maruti cars in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. “We are delivering 125 cars and more than 1,100 bikes on Wednesday,” said CEO of Manan Autolink, Sandip Kumar.
The dealers of luxury cars too expect good demand for deliveries on Wednesday. According to COO of Audi Ahmedabad, Anil Chhatwal, “We are witnessing great response this festive season. With around 75 vehicles, our sales are 20% higher this month than the same period last year.”
Housing is not far behind either. “During Navratri, around 60 schemes have been launched and 20-odd more schemes are likely to be launched on Wednesday. Majority of the schemes will be for middle income group people as real demand comes from this segment. We are expecting launch of around 2,000 units in this festive season,” said Pravin Bavadiaya, CMD, City Estate Management.
