Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa today thanked railway minister Mamata Banerjee for presenting a 'pro-people budget and sanctioning a number of railway projects for his state.
Four new railway lines and eight new railway projects have been sanctioned on a cost sharing basis, apart from five under
PPP (Public Private Partnership). Nine new trains are proposed in the Budget and extension of some trains has also been
approved for Karnataka, he said in a letter to her.
He reiterated that the Karnataka government would stand by its commitment to contribute its share for the projects taken up under cost-sharing basis.
"I am sure if all the above projects are implemented on time, it will go a long way in improving railway connectivity in the state and also help in its economic development", he added.
