BSP will contest the assembly polls in Bihar and West Bengal later this year but is yet to finalise the number of seats it will fight, the party has said.

BSP supremo Mayawati yesterday held discussions with party office bearers on preparations for the Assembly polls in the two states.

Mayawati also asked the Jharkhand chapter of the party to gear up for the Assembly elections in the state, which is currently under president's rule.

"Strategy for the assembly elections in the three states was discussed during the meeting and the party supremo has asked the Orissa unit to strengthen the organisation in the state," a party spokesman said here today.

BSP had earlier contested elections in Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand.
