The Delhi Police today got an increase of Rs504.22 crore in budget allocation for fiscal 2012-13 with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee allocating Rs3,767.33 crore for its operation.
In the Budget presented in Lok Sabha today by Mukherjee, the city police was allocated a total of Rs41.5 crore in plan head while Rs3,563.33 crore was earmarked for non-plan expenditure.
Another Rs62 crore has been allocated for constructing residential buildings for policemen, up from last year's Rs10 crore while Rs198.5 crore has been earmarked for building offices, up from last year's allocation of Rs21 crore.
In 2010-11, Rs2,836.53 crore was prosed in the Budget, which had showed a decrease of Rs127.50 crore from the previous fiscal. Last fiscal, the revised budget showed that the Delhi Police actually spent Rs3,131.70 crore.
The budgetary provisions for developing traffic and communication network and a model traffic system has been allocated Rs20 crore, down from Rs82 crore last year.
For upgrading training facilities and installation of traffic signals Rs3 crore each has been allocated while another Rs1 crore has been allocated for the induction of latest technology.
