A teenage girl died and four others injured when two dilapidated buildings collapsed at Katra Ahluwalia area near Golden Temple here during heavy rains today .
The body of physically disabled Bharti (19) was pulled out of rubbles during rescue operation which continued for five hours. Authorities said the rescue work was slow as the lanes were narrow in the old walled area of the city.
Executive Magistrate Vinay Sharma said the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital, where their condition was said to be stable.
Sharma said that these two houses were already in dilapidated condition, which collapsed in the morning during heavy rain.
The two houses were having poor approach due to narrow lanes and as a reason rescue work was carried out manually, he said.
