The CBI has registered two cases against eight public servants including a professor each from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Delhi University (DU) for violation of All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE) norms. The case was registered on the allegation that the accused, while working as public servants in 2008, abused their official positions and entered into criminal conspiracy with the president of a Jaipur based society to cheat the AICTE in the matter of granting recognition to the college at a village on the basis of false documents, a CBI spokesperson said in a statement. He said searches were conducted at Jaipur, Kurukshetra, Jalandhar, Chandigarh and two places in New Delhi during which incriminating documents, cash, assets in the form of immovable property and FDRs have been found. CBI has registered a case against professor GV Singh, School of Computer and System Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, professor TK Garg, Electronics and Communication Engineering Department, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, professor and head MK Jha, Department of Chemical Engineering, NIT, Jalandhar, deputy director Narendra Singh, member secretary secretariat, AICTE, New Delhi and Ram Karan Bhakar, president of Jaipur-based Educational Welfare Society. Another case has been registered against DU professor RS Gupta, professor DVS Verma, BPS Mahila Mahavidhyalaya, Sonepat, SP Singh, then regional officer, AICTE, Chandigarh and Ashish Gupta, secretary of the Jaipur-based Educational Society.
