Citing recent incidents of ceasefire violation by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI (M) today said further vitiation of the atmosphere could derail the peace process between the both countries.
CPI(M) state secretary MY Tarigami today appealed the leadership of India and Pakistan to intervene in the larger interests of peace.
Tarigami also called for demilitarisation on both sides of LoC to stop such hostilities and allow free movement of people and trade on both sides in a phased manner, a statement by the party said.
Referring to the latest incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops, who opened fire at seven Indian posts from across the LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district, Tarigami warned that "further vitiation of the atmosphere along the borders would derail the hard established peace process between India and Pakistan."
He expressed solidarity with the bereaved families of three persons who lost their lives in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in Uri sector.
