The Centre will also provide ex-Agniveers with relaxation in the Physical Efficiency Test and age limits. Initially announced on March 10 last year by the PM Modi-led government, this initiative has now been implemented.

For the first batch of ex-Agniveers, the upper age limit relaxation is set at five years, reducing to three years for subsequent batches. CISF Director General Nina Singh stated that this policy ensures timely benefits for ex-Agniveers and enhances the quality of CISF operations by providing trained and disciplined personnel.

BSF Director General Nitin Agrawal noted that all forces will benefit from recruiting trained soldiers. Ex-Agniveers, who already have four years of training and experience, will undergo a short conversion training with the BSF before being deployed to border posts.

RPF Director General Manoj Yadava confirmed a similar 10 percent reservation for ex-Agniveers in future constable recruitment. He expressed enthusiasm, saying that ex-Agniveers will bring new strength, energy, and morale to the force.

Meanwhile, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi criticized the Centre over the Agniveer controversy, highlighting the case of Agniveer Ajay Kumar, who died in a landmine explosion in Jammu & Kashmir's Naushera in January. Kumar's family has yet to receive compensation, and Gandhi pointed out the difference between compensation and insurance, underscoring ongoing issues with the scheme.
