The Centre has assured all support to the development of agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.

At a meeting with state government officials here, Ashish Bahuguna, additional secretary in the Union agriculture ministry, reviewed the state of agriculture, especially of floriculture and horticulture, and allied sectors.

He expressed satisfaction over the implementation of centrally-sponsored schemes in the state.

The follow up action on the decisions taken in the cabinet secretary's meeting last month regarding centrally sponsored schemes in agriculture and horticulture was also reviewed at the meeting yesterday.

Bahuguna said state government officials should ensure that farmers avail the benefit of new technologies and schemes.

State principal secretary Sonali Kumar sought more financial support from the Centre and greater coordination between central bodies like the National Horticulture Board and state departments.
