Chair used by Narendra Modi gets Rs 2 lakh bid

 A chair on which BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi sat during an election rally here has attracted a bid of Rs 2 lakh, local unit of the party said today.

Over two dozen people contacted the local BJP office to buy the chair and the highest bidder quoted Rs 2 lakh for it. However, the piece of furniture in question was not up for sale, BJP Indore unit president Shankar Lalwani said.

"So far, I have been contacted by around 30 persons to purchase this chair. The highest bid quoted was Rs two lakh. But this chair is not for sale," Lalwani told reporters.

The chair was used by Modi during his November 22 election rally here.

Lalwani said he had ordered the chair at a cost of Rs 3,500 for Modi's rally at the Dushera Maidan here three days before Madhya Pradesh went to polls on November 25.

Earlier, the chair used by the Gujarat Chief Minister during a poll rally in Agra, had attracted a bid of Rs 4.21 lakh.
