With a bullet still lodged in his body, Raju Chandok, the former aide of Asaram Bapu, cannot easily forget the attempt on his life. Perhaps, this could explain why he lives in a fortified home in Sabarmati.
Chandok, who was shot at and injured on December 6 by two men on a bike, has now two police personnel for his security. He has alleged that the murder attempt took place at the behest of Asaram Bapu
Sources close to the development told DNA that Chandok is showing symptoms of high blood pressure, probably because of the bullet which is still lodged in his body. "Chandok was give police protection after he was shot. He is not in a position to talk to anyone because of high blood pressure," said the source.
"We fear that his health may deteriorate if he is constantly harassed by visitors," said the source. The source said that at present Chandok is still under doctor's observation. Police inspector of Sabarmati police station, MB Joshi confirmed that bandobast outside the home of Chandok had been tightened. "Chandok was discharged from the Sal Hospital on Sunday," sources said.
Police had also stepped up surveillance outside the hospital so much so that nobody was allowed to meet Chandok. "Nobody knows the ashram the way Chandok does as he has been there for at least 22 years. He may disclose many things about the ashram in the coming days once he gets well," said a source.
