The environment was filled with purity when a Chandi yagna was performed in Rupal village near Gandhinagar on Tuesday. The seven-hour-long yagna involved 111 Brahmins performing the yagna and chanting the mantras. The yagna was performed on the occasion of upcoming Guru Pushya Nakshatra which falls on Thursday.
Speaking to DNA, the priest performing the yagna, Nilesh Joshi said, “This is the first time that three of us have organised this yagna. This is not an event by any institution but three individuals. This yagna has been performed for vishwa shanti (peace in the world).” The three-day event which began on Tuesday will end on Guru Pushya day. The event has been organised by priest Nilesh Joshi of Jamalpur, Dewant Trivedi, Ashok Jani and Harshad Trivedi of Rupal village.
Moreover, a huge shobha yatra was also carried out by villagers and Brahmins consisting of 250-300 people. Joshi said, “The yatra consisted of villagers, Brahmin priests, youth and param pujya Chunddiwale Mataji (prahlad Jaani). Apart from the shobha yatra, we had a paath where 111 brahmins participated since morning.” They chanted the 1000 paaths of goddess Durga.
A variety of items were used for the homa/havan like kesar, kasturi, jawantari, jatifal, uttatti, kamalkakdi, sarso, paaysam(kheer of ghee and doodh), white sesame.
On Thursday, the Brahmins will perform/chant 1200 paaths of Lalita Sahastra Sthotra and Padmavati Sthotra. “Also, the different types of shree yantra will be offered a huge abhishek,” stated
