In his monthly Mann Ki Baat address, PM congratulates ISRO scientists

Lauding the Indian Space Research Organisation for the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2 in his monthly radio address Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said, "Every Indian is proud of Chandrayaan-2. The year 2019 has been a good one for Indian space and science."

Calling it a fearless mission, he added, "I am sure that you would have felt immensely proud of India's achievement beyond the skies in outer space. The successful launch by our scientists despite the early setback is unprecedented. Chandrayaan 2 is Indian to the core. It is purely Indian in heart and spirit. It is a totally swadeshi and homegrown mission. We are now eagerly waiting for September when Lander Vikram and Rover Pragyan will land on the lunar surface."

In his second Mann Ki Baat after his re-election, Modi also congratulated Indians for the efforts put into the success of Swachh Bharat mission and said it was now time to advance from cleanliness towards beautification.

  • Thanked people of J&K for a ‘successful organisation’ of the Amarnath Yatra

Modi said: "The cleanliness campaign which began five years ago gathered momentum with mass participation and is now setting up newer benchmarks in cleanliness and sanitation."

"The manner in which the cleanliness campaign has got success from ODF (open defecation free) to keeping all public places clean, it shows the resolve of 130 crore countrymen. We are not going to stop there. The mass movement is now surging from cleanliness to beautification," he added.

He also addressed the issue of water conservation and the efforts being made by the states to tackle the problem. "By working on a water policy, the state of Meghalaya has taken a futuristic step. Haryana is also taking great steps when it comes to saving water and working with farmers," he said.

The PM also assured the flood-affected people that the Centre and the state governments are working on a war footing to provide every possible assistance to them.
