PHAGWARA: Taking former Punjab Chief Minitser and state congress Election Incharge Amarinder Singh to task for his "white lies" on Tuesday, Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) General Secretary and a former Punjab Minister Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra on Wednesday asserted that the "jitters and tantrums" of Congress leaders, especially Amarinder Singh,as the wording of their utterances and statements showed, clearly indicated to the writing on the wall that the doors of power for Congress party were going to be permanently shut in the state.
Chandumajra commented upon Amarinder Singh's utterances during his first public appearance on Tuesday at Chandigarh after his recent expulsion from Punjab Assembly and return from foreign tour.
On Amarinder's rhetoric that Punjab Cheif Minister Parkash Singh Badal cant "tie him down or control his life by slapping false cases or misusing power and official machinery", Chandumajra said that the SAD-BJP combine ruling alliance did not believe in indulging in witch-hunting.
He reminded Amarinder that all the cases against him, whether of Amritsar or Ludhiana land scams, were registered on complaints of Congress activists.
"Akalis had not lodged a single complaint against Amarinder and all the criminal cases were going against him from the period of previous govt headed by him", Chandumajra said.
He asserted that while Badal's agenda was integrated development of Punjab,Amarinder had pursued a one- point agenda of witch-hunting against Akalis, especially Badals, during his regime.
He advised Amarinder to adopt a positive approach and shed his penchant for poking his nose unnecessarily.
On Amarinder's declaration that he would embark on poll campaign after Diwali and that Congress would win all 13 Lok Sabha seats in coming general elections,Chandumajra dismissed the claim as mere kite-flying and firing in the air with empty shells by Amarinder.
"Congress had never won all the seats in history while SAD-BJP alliance had done so",he told Captain."And history will repeat again in coming Lok Sabha polls as the ruling alliance would win all the 13 seats",asserted Chandumajra.
On Amarinder's allegation that SAD-BJP government had sold off public land worth Rs 3200 crores during the last one and a half year and had siphoned off the amount to Development Boards,Chandumajra quipped that government neither had a 'taksal' (money-minting machine) nor a magic wand for accelerating development pace.
"Government had administrative expertise, mobilised revenue resources, streamlined tax collection, made Punjab a number two state from a number 24 position in matter of tax collection and had acclerated the development of civic amenities, infrastructure and other projects", claimed Chandumajra.
"Government had not done it by selling lands as was being falsely propagated by amarinder",he said.
He asserted that Congress leaders, especially Amarinder, were rattled by the fact the that government was doing development of state without burdening public with taxes or burning holes in public pockets.
"If Badal succeeds in getting more Central grants with his reasoning and statesmanship, even then Congress leaders had a heart burning", he rued.
