Two 9th-11th century granite idols were stolen from Bhoramdeo Temple in Dantewada, Chattisgarh on Thursday night.
Times of India reported that the thieves broke into the temple late in the night to steal the rare idols worth crores of rupees. In the morning, when the Pujaris of the temple saw the empty spot, they called the local police. Investigation is into the theft is now underway.
Curiously, some time ago, a Natraj idol was also stolen from the same temple but, brought back by the thieves after a few days, the daily reported.
The thieves did not take a penny from the donation box or touched any other properties in the temple.
