Chennai metro underground to have trial run in April

The trial run will reportedly be till Nehru Park.

The Chennai Metro Rail is set to conduct a trial run in the 5 km underground stretch from Koyambedu to Shenoy Nagar in April. A report in The New Indian Express states that the trial run will be done using an inspection wagon, as per a Metro Rail official.

The report adds that the trial run will be till Nehru Park. The Chennai Metro rail also plans to inaugurate the elevated stretch between Little Mount to Airport and the Koyambedu to Nehru Park route as well. An official has been quoted as saying that if things go well the routes be inaugurated at the same time.

Chennai Egmore was also supposed to be part of the inauguration but the daily reports that there are some issues involved with signalling. Right now there is tunnelling work happening between Chennai Egmore to Chennai Central.

The report also states that the Second Avenue Road linking Anna Nagar Roundtana to Thirumangalam ig going to be renovated and the barricades are going to be removed by the end of April. This will help motorists tremendously. Officials have been quoted as saying that the barricades in Thirumangalam have already been removed.
