An arterial road in Chennai caved in on Sunday afternoon, trapping a bus and a car in the crater in the middle of the road, reports ANI. The middle of Anna Salali road caved near the Thousand Lights mosque near Anna flyover, The Hindu reported.
Bus number 25G and a car fell into the resulting crater. The bus was carrying 35 passengers, who were evacuated. No one was reportedly injured. The fire department pulled out both the vehicles from the crater.
Traffic on this stretch of the road has been diverted. The Hindu's report said that vehicles going towards DMS and Teynampet are being diverted via Royapettah clock tower, Lloyds Road and Cathedral Road.
According to Times of India, some traffic has been diverted to the main road near the beach. On Anna Salai, the stretch from White's Road to the Annay flyover has been cordoned off by the police.
