Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Friday congratulated Narendra Modi as BJP appeared set for a victory in the state and the country, saying it was a "historic moment". "This is a historic moment and the country has chosen Narendra Modi (BJP's prime ministerial candidate) in the name of development. I congratulate him for the victorious performance of the party," Singh told reporters in Raipur.
This is the first time the BJP will be in power both in the state and at the Centre, which is a good sign for the growth of Chhattisgarh, he said. "Narendra Modi did a lot of hard work in this election. He boosted the party workers. People voted for Modi in the name of development and elected BJP," he said.
Congratulating media, he said this (poll results) is a reply to those who were saying that media was paid. "Media had presented statistics with truth before people which is now clear," the chief minister said when asked about exit poll predictions.
