Chidambaram to visit Jammu & Kashmir for two days beginning tomorrow

After arriving in Leh, Chidambaram will first visit the cloudburst-hit areas and assess the rehabilitation work being carried out for the victims with Central government assistance.

Home minister P Chidambaram will undertake a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from tomorrow during which he will assess the rehabilitation work in cloudburst-affected Ladakh, interact with people in Kargil and review security situation with chief minister Omar Abdullah.

After arriving in Leh, Chidambaram will first visit the cloudburst-hit areas and assess the rehabilitation work being carried out for the victims with Central government assistance.

He is expected to hold a meeting with local officials to review the works as everything will have to be completed before the onset of winter, official sources said.

On Sunday, the home minister will go to Kargil to visit some border areas before going to Srinagar where he would attend a meeting with the chief minister and top officials and review security situation in the state.
