Children die of food poisoning

Two children studying in a Government Pre-School at Kezha Rangiyam village die due to suspected food.

SIVAGANGA (TN): Two children, including a girl, studying in a Government Pre-School at Kezha Rangiyam village died due to suspected food poisoning while undergoing treatment at Government Hospital.

Police said they were among a group of nine children, who developed symptoms of food poisoning after eating the noon meal served in the school on friday.

The deceased were P Katturaja (4) and T Panditharini (4).

The condition of the other seven children admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital and a private hospital in Madurai was said to be stable.

According to Sivaganga District Collector M A Siddique, food poisoning and contaminated water were suspected to be the reason for the tragedy. A detailed investigation had been ordered into the incident, he added.
