Cold conditions further intensified today in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh with the minimum temperatures dropping by upto four degrees Celsius even as many areas witnessed fog, mist and haze in the region.
  
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Rohtak was the coldest place with a low of 1.8 degrees Celsius, which was four notches below normal, MET office said here.
  
While, Amritsar reeled under a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, the minimum temperature at Ambala was four degrees Celsius, which was three notches below normal.
  
Among the other places, Chandigarh braved a low of 4.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal followed by 4.4 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, two notches below normal and 4.5 degrees Celsius at Patiala, which was also two notches below normal.
  
Karnal shivered at a low of 4.8 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal and the minimum temperature at Narnaul was 5.7 degrees Celsius.
   
Bhiwani had a low of 6.2 degrees Celsius, Hisar settled at a low of 7.3 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature at Gurgaon was 8.1 degrees Celsius.
    
Many places in the region, including Ambala, Hisar, Karnal, Rohtak, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala had either fog, mist or haze in the morning resulting in disruption of normal life due to poor visibility, officials said.
  
The MET forecast fog, mist or haze in the morning or at night at many places in Punjab and Haryana during the next few days.
