Commercial sex workers protest police atrocity in Satara

According to the protesters, inspector D Dhome of Shahar Police Station thrashed two local CSWs on April 2 near the Satara bus-station.

A few hundred commercial sex workers from across Maharashtra and representatives of NGOs today took out a protest march in the city, demanding action against a local police inspector for allegedly beating up two sex workers brutally.

According to the protesters, inspector D Dhome of Shahar Police Station here thrashed two local CSWs on April 2 near the Satara bus-station.

One of the women, Anu Mokal, suffered miscarriage because of the beating, they alleged.

Representatives of various women and CSW-centric organisations took part in the march.

A memorandum, seeking suspension of inspector Dhome, was handed over to the district collector.
