The condition of UP minister Nand Gopal Gupta "Nandi", who was flown in here from Allahabad after being injured in a bomb attack targeting him, was stable, doctors at a hospital here said today.
"The condition of the minister, who is admitted to the ICU, is stable. His blood pressure and other vital parameters are stable and he is conscious", director, Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute, Dr RK Sharma said.
36-year-old Gupta was flown in here from Allahabad by a state government plane last night after he suffered injuries in the abdomen, neck and one of the hands in the attack on him near his residence while proceeding to a temple.
The bomb had been placed in a motorcycle parked just outside his residence.
Gupta, who holds the portfolio of Institutional Finance, Stamp and Judicial Tax in the Mayawati ministry, was wounded along with his personal security officer Sanjay and local journalist Vijay Pratap Singh, whose condition in a Allahabad hospital is stated to be serious.
Meanwhile, a number of ministers, including Lalji Verma, Babu Singh Khushwaha and Indrajeet Saroj, visited the hospital to enquire about his condition.
Police in Allahabad had said yesterday that five supporters of a rival local SP leader Dilip Mishra were detained following the incident.
