It seems to be raining scams for Gujarat government. Incidentally these scams are being ‘unearthed’ by Congress.
Yet another scam worth Rs25-30 crore in just 45-55km area in Kutch district has been brought to light by opposition party. Congress spokesperson Dr Manish Doshi, in a statement, states that unusual requirements have been stipulated in contracts given by Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam. It has been alleged that unusual changes have been reported in work order for specific contractors after they were awarded contracts as per demands of the contractor. This has resulted in inferior quality of constructed canals.
"Officials of the Nigam have been ill-treating Gujarat's lifeline, the Narmada Canal, for years' together. The Nigam has been receiving kickbacks from the corporate world, cheating government coffers and filling up their own pockets," alleged Doshi.
He has demanded independent inquiry into the corruption charges revealed.
