On Tuesday, the Congress lashed out at the BJP government over a number of issues including rise in groundnut oil prices and the strike by medical teachers.

Gujarat Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said that groundnut prices have seen a 35% spurt in the last six months alone. "Petrol, diesel and kerosene are the costliest in Gujarat owing to the taxes imposed by the state government," said Modhwadia.

He said that his party planned to take out a 'hisaab do' rally and expose the corrupt practices of the state government in front of the people.

Shankersinh Vaghela said that Congress' victory in Mansa was a proof of the changing aspirations of the people. Vaghela was speaking at a meeting to decide the future course of action of the planned rally. The rally will be held in various districts of the state from April 10 to 25.

The Congress also criticised chief minister Narendra Modi for his indifferent attitude towards the troubles faced by both the medical teachers and the patients of government hospitals.

"It is a pity that the medical teachers have to go on strike to demand for a UGC pay scale. The government has earlier too held talks regarding the same but never bothered to implement any change. This indifferent attitude is also putting the patients in trouble," said Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Shaktisinh Gohil.
