Congress fields candidates for assembly bypoll in Rajasthan

The party has fielded Basanti Devi from Salumber assembly constituency and Shivdayal Meena from Todabheem, a party spokesman said here.

Congress today announced its candidates for the two assembly constituencies in Rajasthan going to bypolls on November 7.

The party has fielded Basanti Devi from Salumber assembly constituency and Shivdayal Meena from Todabheem, a party spokesman said here.

Basanti is the wife of Raghuveer Meena, MP and former MLA, while Shivdayal is executive president of Karauli congress district units, he said.

Both will be submitting their papers later in the day as today is the last date for filing nominations.

BJP has already announced the names of Amrit Meena and Ramesh Meena from Salumber and Todabheem respectively.

The two assembly seats fell vacant after resignation of Kirorilal Meena and Raghuveer Meena, who had won the Lok Sabha polls, from Dausa and Udaipur constituencies respectively.

Scrutiny of papers will be held on October 22, and withdrawal of papers would take place on October 24.
