Congress lambasted ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) today for allegedly distorting the recent Supreme Court order dismissing a petition against chief minister Pawan Kumar Chamling seeking its direction for a CBI probe into his alleged disproportionate assets."The apex court did not give a clean chit to Chamling as is being projected by SDF, which is presenting the judgement as if it was a victory for the chief minister. It instead directed the petitioners to approach the investigating agencies for redressing their grievances," Sikkim PCC vice-president Phuchung Bhutia said in a statement here. The SC judgement was not a setback to the petitioners and the disproportionate assests charge against the chief minister will be pursued with the concerned investigating agencies to a logical conclusion, he said.

"The petitioners will soon take it up with the investigating agencies," Bhutia said and appealed to the people not to get misled by the propaganda by SDF that the disproportionate assests case was 'buried forever' in the wake of the SC order.SC on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by Kunda Nima Lepcha and others seeking its direction for a CBI probe in thedisproportionate assets case against Chamling and directed thepetitioners to knock the door of the investigating agenciesfor redressal of their grievances.  SDF had hailed the SC order saying it was a victory of Chamling against canards spread by the Opposition. The party had even held celebrations and burst firecrackers.
