Former Union Minister and sitting Patiala MLA Preneet Kaur on Monday said that she does not have any bank account overseas in her name with any foreign bank.
"My statement was recorded by Income Tax authorities at Ludhiana (earlier). I was not shown any document which may indicate that I had a foreign bank account or a Trust. I gave my statement accordingly that I do not have any foreign bank account or Trust," she said in a statement responding to a news report published in a leading English daily.
Kaur is the wife of Congress' Deputy leader in Lok Sabha and former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, who is also the sitting MP from Amritsar.
She has also in the past strongly denied having any bank account overseas in her name with any foreign bank.
According to the report, Kaur, who was a Minister of State in the erstwhile UPA government, and members of her family are facing official scrutiny by tax authorities who say they are probing the link between her alleged HSBC Geneva account and trusts and companies -- as well as with properties allegedly owned by these entities in London and Dubai.
