An active Congress worker was shot dead today by unknown gunmen when he got down from bus at Goalpara near Katwa in Burdwan district.
The police said Collge Ghosh (40) died on the spot when the gunmen shot him from close range and threw a few crude bombs at him this afternoon.
A resident of nearby Kusumba village, Ghosh was an active worker of Congress party, the police said.
