Journalists and production team of Zee News were attacked by Congress workers in Jamnagar during the shooting of an election-related talk show on Tuesday evening.

The incident occurred when the production team was busy shooting a show 'Game of Gujarat', of which Congress leaders were also part of. The Congress leaders got angry when question related to Patidar leader Hardik Patel's alleged sex tape cropped up, and they started protesting at the venue.

Witnesses said that when the Zee team refused to comply, Madam, who is seeking a ticket from Congress to contest in the upcoming assembly elections, asked his supporters to attack the team and to create a ruckus. He also allegedly asked them to damage the venue.

"Zee News anchor Aman Chopra, journalist Vishal Pandey, and other members of the production team were threatened and manhandled by the Congress workers. The protesting Congress workers included a female sitting councillor and one former councillor," said an eyewitness to the incident.

The situation could have gone out of hand, but with the intervention of the local journalists, the police personnel present at the venue tried to bring things under control. Witnesses said that the local police inspector and other officials also rushed to the venue and defused the situation.

Reacting to the incident, state BJP president Jitu Vaghani said that he condemns the incident and any attempts to silence the press.
