The Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday suspended seven policemen on charges of dereliction of duty and transferred an SHO to the lines in Azamgarh district following the alleged murder of a Dalit in their area, Home department officials here said.
Seven constables posted at Bogria police outpost were suspended on charges of dereliction of duty and SHO of Tarwa police station was sent to the lines following the killing of Sabru Ram, a Dalit, they said.
Sabru Ram, who was allegedly assaulted by Tej Bahadur Singh and his sons Anil Singh, Pratap Singh and Ashok Singh in Tithaupur village of Azamgarh district on May 29 over a dispute related to a link road, succumbed to injuries at a hospital on May 31, police said.
