A Delhi court today adjourned the hearing on the bail plea of disgraced diplomat Madhuri Gupta after Delhi police sought time to file case laws with regard to her plea of supplying copies of documents relied upon by it to seek her prosecution under the Official Secrets Act.
Chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed public prosecutor Rita Sharma's plea for time to file judgements in connection with the application of Gupta with regard to supply of documents.
The court posted the hearing on 53 year old Gupta's application for bail for September four.
Gupta is facing charges of passing secret information to Pakistani intelligence agents during her posting in Islamabad.
The diplomat has filed her bail application for the third time since her arrest on April 22 after being called from Islamabad where she was posted as Second Secretary in the Press and Information wing of the Indian High Commission.
She also filed another application seeking direction to Delhi police for documents including the copy of emails which she allegedly exchanged with her handlers.
The Delhi police had filed the charge sheet against the IFS Grade-B officer on July 20.
The probe agency had cited Gupta's purported e-mails to claim that she used to pass on information to Pakistan intelligence agencies through her handler Jamshed -- whom she planned to marry -- and another person named Mubashar Raza Rana.
