A Delhi Court today allowed investigators to conduct a narco-analysis test on top Maoist leader Kobad Ghandy. Chief metropolitan magistrate Kaveri Baweja allowed the narco-test of Ghandy after the Delhi Police contended that it had not been able to elicit all the information from him despite use of all scientific methods of interrogation.

The court passed the order after going through the medical report submitted by AIIMS saying that 59-year-old Ghandy was medically fit to undergo the test.Earlier, a special medical board of AIIMS had conducted the medical examination of Ghandy and submitted a report in the court, saying the politburo member of banned CPI(Maoist) can withstand the narco-analysis test.

"There is no evidence to suggest that the accused cannot withstand the narco test," the AIIMS report had said. The court had directed AIIMS to examine him after Ghandy's counsel had opposed the narco-analysis on the ground that he was not medically fit to undergo the test.

The police had on October 20 filed an application before the court to allow it to conduct a narco test on Ghandy. Public Prosecutor had contended that Ghandy had not co-operated during questioning despite use of all scientific methods of interrogation. Ghandy was arrested from the national capital in
September.
