India reported 30,941 new COVID-19 cases and 350 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry. Kerala once again reported the maximum number of cases - 19,622 and 132 deaths, while Maharashtra recorded 3,741 new infections. The total death toll from COVID-19 has risen to 4,38,560.
With 36,275 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries in the country has gone up to 3,19,59,680, the government data showed. Active cases have shown a slight decline, accounting for 1.13% of total cases in the country, and have come down to 3,70,640.
The weekly positivity rate now stands at 2.51%, below 3% for the last 67 days. The daily positivity rate in the country stands at 2.22%. The current recovery rate in India is 97.53%, the Union health ministry said.
With the addition of 190 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 5,51,239, an official said on Tuesday. Meanwhile, a case of AY.12 sub-lineage of Delta variant has been detected in Kotdwar area of Pauri Garhwal district, as per CMO Dr Manoj Sharma.
The health ministry said a total of 64,05,28,644 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far. Less than 14 lakh samples were tested on Monday, compared to the weekly average of over 17 lakh.
