In another statement, CPI Central Secretariat also demanded that the Union Home Ministry should consider drafting a law against such racist attacks.
"It is a fact that in independent India, due to uneven development and step-motherly attitude of the ruling class, people of the Northeastern region genuinely feel that they are a neglected lot.
"Such feelings of alienation are highly detrimental to the smooth functioning as well as consolidation of our democratic system. Also anti-national divisive and separatist forces are waiting for a chance to exploit such sentiments," the CPI said, adding all efforts should be made to create confidence among the people of the Northeast.
Welcoming the Centre's move to order a CBI probe into the death of the Arunachal student, it said this probe "alone will not deter the vicious elements from continuing the attacks.
Such unruly elements must be given exemplary punishment." It also attacked the police saying most of the times, they stood like spectators when such incidents happened.
