The agricultural labour union affiliated to CPI will observe a day's token fast on Monday demanding the Tamil Nadu government to allot more funds for the ‘Kalaignar Housing Scheme’.
The present allotment of Rs 60,000 for each house was insufficient, CPI state secretary D Pandiyan said told
reporters here yesterday.
He said the government had announced that 21 lakh houses would be built in seven years and Rs 60,000 would be given for
construction of each house. The Union would observe fast
on March one in all district headquarters demanding to
raise the amount to Rs3 lakh per house.
He also asked the government to enhance the funds allotted
to local bodies.
