A day after Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) claimed that one of the holed-up fidayeens in a Border Security Force (BSF) camp tried to pose as a CRPF trooper and took position with soldiers, BSF maintained the militant was forced to came out of the administrative block before he was neutralised near the temple.
Security forces had repulsed a terror attack on Monday when three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists were neutralised soon after they stormed a secured BSF camp near Srinagar International Airport and Air Force Station. An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of BSF was killed and three others injured in the operation that lasted for 10 hours.
Ravideep Singh Sahi, CRPF Inspector General, Srinagar sector told a news channel, "The terrosist was wearing a camouflage dress of the CRPF. He was aiming towards the building where our forces were also aiming. When an officer turned to a soldier to hand over more ammo, they spotted the stranger."
On the other hand, Police sources said the third militant holed up in the administrative building was smoked out after forces used tear gas shells. "The forces used rockets to create a hole in the room where the militant was hiding. They fired tear gas shells inside the room and suffocated the militant forcing him to come out," an officer said.
KK Sharma, Director General of Border Security Force, said BSF officers with the help of CRPF and Speacial Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police forced the third terrorist, who was hiding in the administrative block, to come out before he was neutralised.
"Rashtriya Riffles (of the army) handled the outermost cordon. CRPF and SOG laid the intermediate cordon. Our job was to flush out the fidayeen. Our officers led the operation. With the help of CRPF and SOG, we forced him to come out of the administrative block, and when he came out, CRPF, SOG and BSF handling the intermediate cordon killed him near the temple," said Sharma.
Elaborating, Sharma said the militant threw the grenade when he came out of the building and that is how he was identified as he was wearing a military uniform as well.
