A CRPF jawan was killed when he accidental fired from his service rifle this morning in the paramilitary force's camp in lower Assam's Sonitpur district.

The CRPF 30th battalion jawan, D J Chapkate, on duty was cleaning his rifle here around 7.30 am when a bulled was accidentally fired from his firearm seriously injuring him in his stomach, official sources said.

Chapkate was immediately rushed to the 155 army base hospital here where he was declared brought dead, the sources said.

The jawan hailing from Maharashtra was transferred here recently, the sources said, adding, his body was taken to Kanaklata Civil Hospital for post mortem.
