Imparting education in mother tongue as well as culture and value-based education and having vegetarian food for midday meal are some of the suggestions that the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) received in its last meeting. The meeting also received suggestions like saying Jai Hind during marking school attendance as well as remodelling NCERT curriculum.

CABE is the highest decision making body for all matters related to education. The meeting was chaired by Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar. 

According to the minutes of the meeting as released by HRD Ministry, Minister of State for HRD Satyapal Singh stressed upon the importance of imparting education in mother tongue, while Uttarakhand Education Minister Arvind Pandey talked about having vegetarian food for mid-day meal. 

Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma discussed the need of having culture and value-based education.

“Can we give our contribution to include value-based education. NCERT should remodel the syllabus towards culture based education,” he was quoted as saying.

Kunwar Vijay Shah, Minister of School Education, Madhya Pradesh, suggested that the practice of saying yes sir/yes ma’am during the school attendance should be replaced with Jai Hind.
