A day after aspersions of unfair trial were cast on a special judge hearing a CWG graft case by a counsel for one of the accused, the District Judge today said she would also hear the advocate to reach a conclusion.
District Judge Sunita Gupta took up the case file which was sent to her by Special CBI Judge Talwant Singh yesterday after advocate Ramesh Gupta, appearing for CWG OC's former Secretary General Lalit Bhanot levelled the allegation of unfair trial against him.
"Learned Special Judge CBI has sent the file to this court for further order as certain unpleasant situation arose before him," Gupta said adding it would be appropriate to hear Ramesh Gupta in the matter.
As the senior counsel was not available before the court, the matter was put up for February 21.
Meanwhile, the counsel for co-accused A K Reddy, the promoter of AKR Construction, submitted his bail plea is pending argument before the special court and would have been heard today had the file not been marked to this court.
He said he has complete faith in the trial court and that his bail plea be heard by the same court.
On this, the file was sent back to the special court for hearing on the bail application on February 13.
During yesterday's hearing in the CWG Timing, Scoring and Result System scam, advocate Gupta had said a hostile atmosphere was being created in the court by calling the accused everyday for scrutiny of documents.
"The public prosecutor and the naib of this court visit the chamber of the judge off and on and it gives an impression to the accused, advocates and the press that a fair trial is not being conducted," Gupta had said.
A displeased special judge had sent the case file to the District Judge for appropriate orders besides a complaint being made to Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
