The first-of-its-kind 'pharma zone' will ensure maintenance of the quality of the drugs and products being transported.

"The dedicated pharma zone at IGI are expected to come up by June or July this year. The Delhi International Airport Limited will set it up, and we have designed it," drug controller general of India Surinder Singh said today.

Talking to the media on the sidelines of a seminar here, he said the pharma zone will have a controlled and proper atmosphere. The Customs and drug control officials will be stationed there for checking and other formalities.

"The pharma companies will have to pay for using the facility. There is no government expenditure involved, and the ministry is only a facilitator," he said.
