A Delhi court today rejected the bail plea of a property dealer accused of raping a 27-year-old Brazilian student here, saying it was "devoid of merit."Metropolitan Magistrate Munish Markan, while refusing the plea of the accused Amandeep Singh, said, "Application is devoid of any merit. Investigation is still at the nascent stage."Singh, son of a Delhi-based lawyer, was arrested by police for allegedly raping the Brazilian student in her rented accommodation in Chittaranjan Park in south Delhi.The incident came to light on June 29 after the woman lodged a complaint alleging that her landlord had raped her twice after giving her coffee laced with sedatives.The accused, owner of the house in which the woman was staying on rent, was arrested after her medical examination confirmed rape.The woman, who is pursuing a mass communication course from a private institute in Noida, came to India in the first week of June. She had been staying in the rented house since June 19.
