A Delhi court would tomorrow hear the bail plea of two persons in an alleged graft case in which former Medical Council of India president Ketan Desai is an accused.
Additional sessions judge OP Saini deferred hearing on the bail applications of Kanwaljit Singh and Sukhwinder Singh, both doctors of a Punjab-based private medical college, after it was intimated that the Delhi high court may pronounce its order on the bail plea of another co-accused today.
"Put up the applications for hearing on tomorrow," the court, which had earlier dismissed Desai's bail plea, said.
Desai, Kanwaljit, Sukhwinder and JP Singh (an alleged Delhi-based tout) are in judicial custody till June 9.
The former MCI president was arrested on April 22 by CBI along with three others for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs2 crore to give permission to Gyan Sagar Medical College, Patiala to recruit a fresh batch of students.
Earlier, the court had allowed CBI to interrogate Desai and the others in view of their alleged non-cooperation in the ongoing probe in the case.
Desai, the alleged middleman and the doctors of the medical college have been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act dealing with inducing a public servant to accept bribe, criminal misconduct and payment of money.
Based on contents of intercepted telephonic calls allegedly made by the accused, CBI had laid a trap outside the south Delhi residence of JP Singh, which led to his arrest and that of Kanwaljit.
